University Falls

The sun I sought has left these large barren granite slabs and retreated to the treetops.
There is where the warmth is and I am here below in the shadows and the chill of the autumn mountain air.
The water flows between these granite slabs without care for sun or shade and pushes on-downward
To the river which awaits its arrival without fanfare but welcomes it as one of its own.
The air between the river valley is still
Its sunlight having long gone
The only air moving is along the back of the river its current provides.
And I, I watch and listen. Listening to the sound of the river
And looking into the scape it has created-
And hope to see my future.
