Uncertainty

Rohan Goel 1993 (Punjab)

Life’s an hourglass,
and the sand’s slipping, moment by moment, stealthily but steadily,
Unseen by our eyes, unknown by our presence,
but this mystery is a bliss.

For the conflict arises when one senses,
the formidable existence of the ticking time.

The restless mind, desiring to conquer,
cherishing charm but at present frightened.

Dreaming to rise, be seen and admired,
realizes the passing seconds against the unknown paths and goal.

When bosom and brain and time decide,
to disagree with each other’s perspective,
arises an overwhelming surge of emotions,
despair, dreadfulness, hopelessness and aberration.

The choices change with time,
henceforth, the past decision being followed currently,
may stand in opposition to the changed self in this moment,
and thus, the dilemma of choice and the burden of repercussions.

The sane may suppress the desire,
but cumulating desires make one insane.

The logic stands right in front of the consciousness,
endeavoring to focus one on the ongoing road,
but one single seed of a rebellious thought,
is just like that lurking dull pain troubling the soul in the midst of apparent health.

The mind knows the way,
but the heart doesn’t wants to travel,
because the heart knows the destination,
to which the mind knows no path.

Thousands of questions with millions of answers,
but the irony stands in the fact,
of absence of that single satisfactory reply,
which can remove all the shadows.

There is no uneasiness alike,
when one’s dream becomes just another thing.

When that profound feeling of being lost,
prevails all over one’s thoughts.

Sometimes, the solution comes early,
and sometimes, ages fall apart.

And what’s always left is uncertainty.
