Suffocation
I didn't learn to breathe
until i was sixteen
I was told it was for the best
that i don't leave her nest
I didn’t have a voice
not even a single choice
I was taught to cower
before those “in power”
I didn’t have a say
not a single day
My whole life I was invalidated
and told it was fated
But now my sisters could breathe
all thanks of me
They are allowed to live
cause i was an experiment
My sisters have a voice
and allowed to have a choice
I suffered tremendously
for them to hate me
My sisters have a say
every single day
Of course i’m envious
cause my whole life was cautious
About this poem
A quick piece i wrote in 30 minutes to vent about my mom’s parenting.
