PORTRAIT OF A BOY EXAMINING HIS MIND UNDER A MANGO TREE

PORTRAIT OF A BOY EXAMINING HIS MIND UNDER A MANGO              TREE

Who am I?
A boy you were, a guy you were, a man you are;
Striped by the hunger for life, thirst for love, and melodious taste;
Under the canopy of a Mango tree.
         Which of the fruits should I pick?
I suggest you pick the ripened one; I suggest you pick the unripe one;
For a melodious day or some other dry/sour days.
      This is a little bit clustering, ain't it?
Yes! A cluster of life; a cluster of mind; a cluster of mind; a cluster of love:
Life has been a cluster of clusters;
You have been trapped in the con of melodious-dry thoughts; of a ripened Mango fruit
Or sour-soft coming days from the unripened fruit.
            Do you think unripened fruit is the best?
No! Yes! A sour day, a sour moment, and a sour taste; for a sour period;
On the other days a melodious taste, a melodious moment, and a melodious day that;
Stitches sour hearts.
             Do you think ripened fruit is the best?
Yes! No! A melody of seconds; peace of minutes; and satisfaction of no hours;
The thirst for more melodies; the sour lung waiting for another harvest day to have a new happy bite.

                  Life is full of tests thirst, full of melody, full of sour lungs.
                                A little bit of thirst; you ask for melody;
                         A little bit of melody; you ask for sour lungs;
                    A few sour lungs; you have reached your far end, and;
               You have become a beggar in search of thirst, melody, and sour lung;
                                     Under the canopy of a Mango tree.

About this poem

The poem centers on the ups and downs of man's life. There are situations where men have choices to make in their lives. The poem explains through the imaginary use of mango fruits that there are choices that man can think are the best but the reality of life has it that not all that glitters is gold. However, some choices may be rough on the outward view and shine like gold when viewed in-depth. The poem speaks volumes on the above prognosis
