Ode to sorrow

Ruchi Bisht 1996 (Uttrakhand)

Ode to sorrow

You came abruptly to startle me
With your presence all around
I felt an urge to purge my emotions
Letting you out doesn’t reduce my pain
But it somehow looks uncertain

This time too shall pass
Unlike the happy dance of past
It will sing an elegy at last
You may not like the note
But this is what i have got
All these years when i saw you
Coming out of nowhere

I wished to leave you
On that dreary night
With those nightmares
Of mine
But you find your way
And don’t let me make hay
Don’t just secretly lay
Your plans for a long stay

About this poem

Poem’s inspiration came when I was dealing with a lot of set backs in my life. I wrote it to embrace them and learn from them.
