Normal

Tyler Nicholson 2006 (Clarksburg, WV)

Time to do my math
Math, math, math, math
What is math, why does it work
I’m hungry, I wonder what’s for lunch
Hmm lunch, it’s a funny word
Like brunch, punch, crunch, punch
I already said punch
I like punch
But not getting punched
I wonder if other people like punch
Oh wait, my math, I forgot
I always forget
I wish I could remember
Will I get dementia when I’m older?
I hope not, I want to remember my mom
My disorder, it feels like a bomb
It feels like the largest boulder
That I don’t know if I can shoulder
It feels like it’s constantly exploding
Or maybe it’s imploding
Wait that doesn’t make any sense
Sometimes I feel like I never make sense
I know I’m being irrational
But it feels so impassable
It feels like I’m constantly turning off my disorder
I wish my brain had the slightest bit of order
Then maybe, just maybe, I’d really be normal
