Hope

When things go wrong and misfortune
                                                  prolonged,
         And the blues hit the soul;
The nightingale sings its last song,
          And Hope whispers, "Hold on".

When woe lingers with no respite found,
           And adversity strikes beyond fault;
Life seems to descend with no bounds–
            Doesn't the arrow too retreats for its
                                                     catapult?

In the maze of life, the heart is in fragments,
          And in-between the chaos, lost is the
                                                     thrill.
Soul waning with many a dent;
           But the abridged moon illuminates still.

The world trampling on the underdog,
             Navigating life with every care and
                                                    caution.
Little acorns become mighty oaks,
             And difficult roads lead to beautiful
                                                   destinations.

Hopelessness creeping in, knowing naught
                                                    but failure;
             Wistfully awaiting a renewal.
But calm sea never made a good sailor;
              And desert is but sunshine perpetual.

Hearken to the cuckoo's call at the break of dawn,
             Life goes on with much to mourn;
The nightingale returns after its last song,
             And Hope whispers, "Hold on".

About this poem

I wrote this poem for all those who are struggling with life and everyday problems. Not being rewarded for your hard work, always being a second choice, always failing no matter how much you try, battling depression, anxiety, stress, being a victim of harsh words and criticism. I know it is hard but always have faith which is greater than your fear. Know that a miracle will come through and life will not only be easier but also enjoyable. You will overcome these obstacles. And all these hard times will morph you into someone who can take on life. And besides, if we don't know sadness, how can we know the value of happiness?
