Engulfed

Here I sit, once again the victim of my own thoughts.
I am the victim because I choose to be, totally consumed.
I feel the slow aching moan of loneliness creeping in.
The words replay in my ear like a stuck record.
Repeating the mantra of a thousand drums.
Despair is pounding into my body and mind.
My thoughts are venomous, my conscience engulfed in flames.
The loneliness eats away at my tortured soul.
Always a victim of my emotions, letting them control my destiny.
In the blink of an eye the darkness consumes me and swallows me whole.
I’m drowning, struggling to breath.
The silence pierces through me, the shadows surround me.
I am destined for solitude and suffering.
