DAMN IT!
DAMN IT!
He pledged to be faithful, loyal and honest.
Fruitfulness he showed as green twice.
Assuring every eyes of peace with stainless white in between.
His words were 'Unity, Faith, Peace and Progress'
a line he kept calling as he got dressed with Coat of Arm.
So I followed who I thought knows the way,
stayed committed to the relationship day by day
cause he said, he will be my defender.
He will ride his strength to protect me across borders.
His tongue flowed without a twist
as he kept making promises,
psyching me with lines of 'Leaders of Tomorrow.'
There was no trace of him preparing a table of sorrow before me in years to come.
Still I followed on.
Rising up as a patriot to Nigeria's call
to serve with heart and might
one Nation with power but no light,
bound with greed over need
with dead conscience rocking seats of authority with pride.
These years he's been taking me for a ride.
Still I followed on.
Hoping someday these dark shade will turn to dawn.
Weeping endured for nights but dawn came with mourning
of my fellows who harmlessly asked for nothing but fairness and a chance to be heard.
I got served breakfast at night:
sights of flying bullets on my people's head
at Lekki, Toll gate
See how much of me and my people he hates:
Tomorrow he can't protect
To get jobs one need connect
I am TIRED! abeg FORGET!
I no longer need your title
cause since the beginning greed is what you've been tied to.
You steal public treasures;
claim then all as yours.
You treat human lives like livestock
with recession, falling naira, rising roar of groups with tags of Bandit.
Kidnapping, killing fellows...
God! Damn it!
