Faded Moonlight

I sat near a pond
In the moonlight with her.
We gazed at stars which shined like diamond
We gazed at moon which smiled like wise.

I looked at her.
She, all decked up in white.
Long hairs with long nails,
White eyes and a huge grin.
I showed her my thin closed smile.
We spent the whole night
gazing at the sky.

When I finally turned up to her,
She was gone.
I turned up to the pond.
Saw my reflection.
All decked up in white.
Long hairs with long nails,
White eyes and a thin closed smile!

About this poem

This poem is about toxic friends. These are the friends who show as if they are our true friends but a time comes when they show their reality by leaving us and imprinting all their negativity in us. This poem not only depicts the negativity they leave on us but also the quality which is left in us which is never faded no matter how much negativity is poured in us. Not to mention, this is the only quality in us which can bring back our own selves.
