WHIP-POOR-WILL

Ken Bartlett 1934 (Leominsterr Mass)

Whip-poor-will, whip-poor-will where have you gone?
On these summer nights, I so miss your song!
When you came calling up close and near;
at the end of your greeting a cluck, I could hear.

Did the fox or the coyote discover your nest?
Did cupids arrow miss hitting your breast?
Whip-poor-will, whip-poor-will where did you go?
Whip-poor-will, Whip-poor-will, I do miss you so.
