A Plea to My Body

Body, forgive me.

Forgive me for the years I put a finger down my throat.

Body forgive me for the powders I had put up my nose.

Body forgive me for ignoring the blood I passed

Body forgive me for negligent year I can't give back

Body, forgive me

For the nicotine that sits on my tongue

The tar that coats my lungs

The smoke and stale scented breath

Body forgive me, for thinking you are too good for death

For not letting you rest ,

And not forcing one's self to bed.

Body, forgive me for not filling my meds

Body forgive me.

Body forgive me, for the mornings I skipped brushing my teeth

Body forgive me for denying you the nourishment you need

Body forgive me, for burying you under layers of stress

Body forgive me, for cutting through your flesh

Forgive me for puncturing your veins

Body forgive me for brushing off physical pain

For skipping appointments

And repeating bad habits

They are not mistakes when the choices are pre meditated

Body forgive me.

For forcing physical health

Be surrendered to avoid losing my futures potential wealth.

body forgive me.

Body, forgive me.

Body forgive me for the junk I consume

Body forgive me for depending on you

For diminishing the power it takes to do what you do

Body, forgive me

Body, forgive me

For not washing the chemically grown fruit I place in my mouth

Forgive me for biting my nails

Body forgive me, for not even trying to build

A healthy physique before declaring I failed

Body forgive me for being so lazy

Body forgive me for not addressing my mental health

Body forgive me for being so run down lately

Body forgive me for my plate

As I pile it higher than I know I should

Body forgive me for not changing my ways

Body, please, don't tell me

That my mouth full of sorrys ....has come too late
