A Poem or Two

They said I lack ambition
A career I should pursue.
And I, I sat...
And wrote a poem or two.

The bills came abundant
My finances to consume.
And I, I sat...
And wrote a poem or two.

My house laid in shambles
The rain leaked through the roof.
And I, I sat...
And wrote a poem or two.

She said she found repugnant
My ways through and through.
And I, I sat...
And wrote a poem or two.

I suppose that someday
I should begin to go and do,
But for now,
I think I’ll sit...
And write a poem or two…
