Sun

I took my spaceship to the sun
And stole a piece, the brightest one
On a dusky night with a beautiful sky
Because poems about the sun made me cry
They spoke of its beauty, warmth and place
And the people it fed with vitamin D through their face
It shone so bright I had to dim my windows and cover my clothes
And wear shades indoors as it warmed my house that's for sure
It cries to go home, be shared not alone
when I ask it questions with a chain hung on
Sometimes it spins when I sing a song
Those days are rare now as its light is nearly gone
I promised I'd take it home once but I know that was wrong.
I stopped covering it with christmas lights on because it doesn't make it feel better somehow
So ill leave it for someone special I have in mind, they'll think its a fancy kind of crystal quartz
Perhaps even give them spiritual joy while they listen to hertz
I'm going back to get a piece more today but nowadays its busy and the best pieces are used to light the way
