From a Distant Land He Comes

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

You’ll be going where you’re looking
If you don’t watch where you’re going
And taking it to heart is more
Than only merely knowing

No one ever jumped out
Of a fresh clear flowing spring
Into a muddy river
Just so they could wash their thing

The flesh it counts for nothing
It was made so it could perish
But when His Spirit lives inside
That’s something you should cherish

The man who comes to see this way
Will never be ashamed
Not guilty is God’s verdict
As he praises Jesus’ name
