love conquers all
When I walked towards a shop to go buy myself bread.
It was like I have never seen her before;
She was in a hurry to go pick up her daughter from a preschool,
And I was waiting for a bus to work when she came by.
Her mother had warned me before not to get anywhere near my beautiful daughter.
I had never seen her father before and I was getting curious.
Having had her promise me she’d one day invite me for supper,
I was sure she was going to tell me everything I didn’t know during our first date.
And didn’t care much about how her mother might get to act;
Once she sees me sitting across from her daughter at her family’s dinner table,
Or how her own daughter would once I ask her about her father’s whereabouts.
I had to have no fear in me if I was to one day be able to head their household.
And my wanton queen’s sweet lips and my very own trembling body
When I decided to loaf and accompany her to a preschool to go pick up her daughter,
Ensured that I got to ask her about her father’s whereabouts,
Whom she told me he left her mother to raise both of them by herself;
Because he wasn’t sure if she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
We then cried because we both didn’t understand her father’s mindset then,
How he chose to go live his life alone in a mansion while his children were starving,
And their mother working hard without pause to raise them.
I assured her that her family’s secret was safe with me,
That unlike her father I wouldn’t leave her for another woman ever.
And I fulfilled my promise about my love for her three months later;
When I put an expensive engagement ring on one of her index fingers,
And told everyone inside the eatery we were in that we were about to become a family.
