Cushy

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

They want it cushy
To live their life as they please.
They want it cushy.
Done to see in their homes on TVs.
While laying back and munching on,
Snacks to eat.

They want it cushy to believe,
Others do this with ease.
Awaiting for their welfare checks.
Monthly received.

They want it cushy.
Life.
To live as they please.
Cushy.
Like the folks portrayed on TV.
They want it cushy.
Until they see to disbelieve,
People hungry in despair...
On urban streets.
Pretending themselves to be,
Victims of neglect.
And hopelessly in need.

'For the life of me.
I can not understand,
Why these people always...
A helping hand.
I gave a dollar or two to a begging man.
And just a week ago,
There he was to still stand.
Saying once again he need helping hand.
What more do they want?
They have their own TV shows.
Then in public they pretend,
A hopelessness exposed.
Believing me to be,
The U.S. Treasury.'

They want it cushy.
Life.
To live as they please.
Lazy, laid back and cushy.
Like they see on TV.
Acted to performed dramatically to believe!

It sounds like your mocking someone. I don't think this is what poetry should be about. But it kind of sounds like a song to tme.
