Dreamer

I can feel you slipping away
like the fragments of a dream
losing shape the more I try to define them.
And yet you’re stuck in my head
like a melody, a song whose refrain
demands a voice to bring dimension to its lyrics
structured stanzas of emotions,
devotions strung together in their feeble attempt
to immortalize something that exists
only in my dreams.

Structured stanzas. I like that when addressing the effort to remember a person and a time so special. Structured? Aren’t they as likely to come out of left field in an unexpected but arresting way. Congrats on your contest recognition, Gina.

This is very invocative, Gina. You have a very unique way of expressing yourself. That is a good thing.

P.S. I, too, am an east coaster, and I, too, also lived in the Pacific North West - Tacoma and Auburn Washington to be exact, in the 80s. Lovely out there isn't it? :-)
