Worst Of Times

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

As adjectives go.
To use and impose.
These are not the worst of times.
Far from it.
Although and however...

The worse of times,
For all seems to have begun...
Years and decades ago.
When the minds of those innocent.
Were made blinded and began,
To follow behind...
Crooked and corrupted to elect politicians.
Leaving many to accept and believe,
These thieves were angels.
Sent and descending,
To deliver their good intentions.
And the best of righteous deeds.
Without deception.
Division or suspected to introduce,
Discrimination or bigotry.
Exceptional had been,
Their ability to disguise rhetoric with lies.
Leaving the people,
Awaiting to anticipate...
They were the benefactors,
Of a promise they would receive...
A life of unending prosperity.
Prosperity to feel and know,
Some would get.
And others? No!

Oh,
The taste and the craving of this began.
Spreading across the land,
Of exclusive greed feeders.
Made to feel above and beyond,
The ones left disparaged and disenfranchised.
Taunted and haunted.
By the creating to make homemade poverty.
To know it and encouraged,
As they continued to fight over...
Remnants left of this travesty.
And that began,
The worst of these times.
To believe them permanent.
To believe them unending.
Here to stay and not to leave.
Although and however,
Far from it yet to receive.

You see.
Who these days to observe and witness.
To have benefitted from a greatness,
Reflecting themselves alone to be.
Are responsible to accept,
The choosing to teach such false beliefs.
And here today,
It is ethnic diversity claimed to blame,
As the cause and reason...
For a diminishing quality,
Of a way of life destroying democracy.
And yet...
That democracy and entitlements given.
Seems more to do with delusion to fiction,
An image and not the reality of it!

As adjectives go to use and impose.
These are not the worst of times.
Far from it!
Although and however...
We are living in times to witness and find,
Those who have been made to believe...
Eliminating truth and its reality.
Can be achieved to receive,
The worst of life to live and leave...
Democracy ruined if done successfully.

'No one.
No one born upon this great Earth.
Created by God.
To not understand its value and worth.
Can be that much of an idiot not to notice.
What they are doing to themselves.
Although and however,
No one has yet been heard to say...
Nothing is impossible.'

Once upon a time.
And not that very long ago.
I would have agreed.
But these days?
God seems to have tested us,
With some exceptions He has created.

'Like what?'

Ignorance and stupidity.

'Well...
Like I said,
Nothing is impossible.
To overcome,
Even the most difficult of God's tests.
To face such overwhelming tasks.
With a praying for them to pass.
If we only just ask it done!
Faith and devotion kept is the key,
To remove the nonsense and misery.'

That to do seems too easy.
Too simple and basic.

'And perhaps that's the reason,
No one is doing it.
You know...
It is alot like telling someone you love them.
Have you tried it?
And next thing they want to see you do,
Is to roll over, bark, walk a mile on your hands.
Chase and fetch thrown sticks to retrieve.
Then jump through hoops to prove you do.'

That is a totally different analogy.

'Is it?'
