WOMAN

Blessing Olayinka 2003 (Oyo state)

Woman,
Like the beginning of a sweet music,
Your enthrallment causes sick,
Embers that glisten are your eyes,
Your abode sings the stream's tune,
Happy are ballads you croon.

 Woman,
An idol you glow,
Yet virtues you show,
Marching steppings of your back sides;
Your unbound freedom in clads of ray,
A game, it's sun rise till setting we can't say.

Woman,
I hear of you oh woman,
Is it heard right no alien enters your clan?
Is it true a warrior you are?
The audacity, is it of the lion's spell?
Or the prowess of the gazelle?

  Woman,
Bold black, glow brown, bright fair,
Beautiful, you can't be exchanged for any fare,
Amongst multitudes, elected you are,
Flap your wings o'er the land,
Let sweep of it's bad and bland.

About this poem

If the Earth is a beautiful vine of pine, it can only be the unseen fingers of "woman", whose seed crafts beauty and reality in a void humanity.
