Until my freedom

Ibtisam Nesredin 2022 (Ethiopia)

                  Until my freedom
I was in my own kingdom
A dark place overloaded with silence
A realm where loneliness prostrates
What was I in that kingdom ?
A prisoner who  seeked freedom
Patience is a virtue they said
Well that's true so I remained
Enduringly for this suffering to end
Soon brightness will ensue
And be one of the few
I will be able to spread my wings and fly
Here comes the time now I am free            To explore the wanders of the ocean and sea
What I saw rather disappointed me
This was not how I expected it to be
A freedom that is  brutal and painful, made me fear
And always wondered Is this the freedom I've waited for years
