Roots

My tree is severed, broken, tainted from the one I called my brother. He allowed his mind, body and soul to be consumed whole. As he watched, his family constantly grieve for him it sure does take its toil. His little sister pleading for him to stop and think  As this was not just effecting him but his whole family.  As she would recount the times, he heard their mum cry and scream. The poor mother would blame herself for all that was done. Believing it was her fault, she thought she created this and that the beast had won. Her youngest and only daughter would come to her and cry, telling her it wasn’t her fault and all is ok. The daughter would go on advise her as to why  Mum look and understand your only daughter and eldest son they aren't the same they have grown up and know it's not time to play. Time to take responsibility and action so if that was the case how would that happen. Had they assaulted people, robbed them blind, or even left their children behind? Did we ever rob you blind and claim that everything is fine? The youngest daughter saw it all, even the letter her mother wrote to say farewell to all. It scares her senseless as this mother was great, she was the one who hugged her and made all the pain go away. So whom would do that if she ever parted, the thought of it left the daughter broken-hearted. This middle child had always been self focused, never thinking of the loved ones who were supposed to be the closest. Robbing them, taking advantage of them and constantly letting them down. The selfishness got too much to take, the self-pity made the sister shiver and sake. She felt sick with frustration, anger and fear of the words that might vomit if he would ever appear. So many unspoken words That will be sung to let the middle brother know he hasn’t won

About this poem

It is written about or to my brother. It's about family and I guess what one whom is an addict can do to their family.
