NEVER TAMPER OUR JOY

CHINELO cried on Monday,
EAGLES  lost on Tuesday.

Those who beat CHINELO witch
murdered the EAGLES hope
the following day?

Stiffled by the heat
of their own rage,

Our youth pointed fingers at our man
and left his stadium in total ruins.

Maybe MKO was at fault!

The PRESIDENT was
with the victims of the train.

BABA had no time
to call the SUPER EAGLES.

But who could have thought
of another HOME LOSS
when ABUJA-KADUNA attack
had already taken many lives?

We all knew
GHANA had to GO

But the big men ensured
GHANA had a GOAL.

The MEN TEAM are to blame
for inciting this CIVIL WAR.

FOOTBALL GAMES
mean more than our lives:

You can cut us
with the machete of fuel scarcity.

You can drag us deeper
 into darkness for days.

But please,
do not lose a game on our soil,

for angry blood runs through our vein.

About this poem

This poem is a melancholic poem that talks more about the cluelessness of Nigeria government towards sport and people's affairs. It satirically examine how worst a presidential call could be when his countryside team is trying to perform in a competition.
