Fight

rein lababidi 2006 (beirut)

What a world we live in
each one suffers from his own problem
trying to show our happy side
when we are dying on the inside
how much longer do we have to hold on
it is just becoming a repeated drown
I wish parents can sympathize
but all they do is criticize
"your grades are going down
all you do is frown"
have you ever wondered why
instead of forcing me to cry
all he does is hit and shout
and my abilities he furthers doubts
I don't want to live in fear
where I have to hold my tear
I want to beat these voices in my head
before I come to an end
"you're worthless, you're the problem"
can u leave me for a moment
I just want to live my teenage life
without overthinking ever single sign
this pressure is so much for me to handle
how long do i have to grapple
everyday is a battle between me and my thoughts
wondering how my words I should have fought
how longer should I keep thus act
since my heart can't handle that

About this poem

i wrote this poem during my hardships and low moments. i had no one by my side and felt alone so poetry was my form of expression. I was suffering from mental issues and eating disorders; unfortunately, for me no one was their and I had to pick myself up. This peace means a lot to me specifically so I hope you enjoy
