FANTASY

              AMBROSIA

Your life began in fantasy
and raised you were as royalty
in uptown chic and finery
Atherton pomp and ceremony
unscathed by my reality
Then worlds collided magically
and conqueror saw colony
but though I came from poverty
my pride I hold implacably
big wallets changed my history
but death alone my dignity
so, kill my memory peacefully
for you have been...long dead to me.

About this poem

A poem about a potential present-day relationship that was doomed to fail because of resistance caused by the historical divides between members of different social groups.

I choose this because of the nectar of the gods and it's got flow and because I'm a dreamer and I can relate to and I can see the whole story in my mind but in ways nobody else will. It's a feeling like an extension of myself but through somebody else's eyes.
