Encounters
Eyes closed, rubbing in disbelief,
causing a parade of psychedelic colors and shapes that
obscure the wonderland
I have encroached upon.
Eyes wide open, images start to manifest.
A wasp, donning in a vibrant saffron hue,
performs with balletic grace,
under the spell of limerence, bestowing kisses from head to toe.
A welcoming to this magnificent kingdom.
I was left stupefied; The wasp did not bite.
An idyllic spider saunters up my arm, its velvety legs tantalize each nerve.
Envisioning a leaf as the origin, I do not swat.
Lowering my eyes down, the discovery unveils. Noticing the hairs soar, enhanced from oversized goosebumps,
afflicted by a wanderer, resting on my arm.
Dressed is the spider, in a deep shade of amber and dappled in claret,
that instinctively notices my apprehension.
To ease the fear, he graciously chants in beautiful tones, by strumming all eight legs.
I become delightfully serene.
Suddenly, my olfactory receptors led me, as if hook and bait,
to an alluring scent.
Harmonizing in a sweet smell, emerges a seductive snake.
Shimmering in a sea green shade, he
serenades in a spellbinding staccato.
Standing in shock, I shiver and shout.
The sleek, skillful and stunning serpent
points south with its forked tongue sticking out.
I remain steadfast in the serpent's suggestion and scurry.
Bang! Startled, I stub my toe;
An atomic display of lights radiates from a prismatic skyline.
Massaging my eyes, I awaken from an exquisite dream.
