An Irish Blessing

Trudy Karr 1945 (Pa.)

My Grandmother told me on one sunny day,my cousin was coming, with us he would stay, we shined up the kettle , we scrubbed up the floor, awaiting his coming and knock on our door, but nobody came on that fine sunny day, He'd stopped at a tavern , he'd found on the way, the kettles still gleaming, the floors all look good, thank goodness he didn't come , let's all knock on wood !
