Reflection

It was not I who wasn’t strong
Not I who wasn’t brave
It was not I who did believe the negative things you say

It was not me
It was not me who you looked down at as you screamed
Get your shit together
Stop being so lazy
You’re foolish
You’re worthless
You’ll never be enough

It was not I who you meant those things to be said to
It was the person in the mirror you meant to say those nasty things to

It was not I who you belittled
Shamed
And didn’t trust

It was you who had issues
Of feeling lost and corrupt

It was I, it was me
Who has been fine all along
Your words were sent from others
Who told you that you were wrong

It never was I, nor me, you felt that way about
It was you, who always suffered with feelings of
Self doubt

It was I, it was me,
Who didn’t know the truth
Until I looked within
Until I realized
It was not I, it was you.

About this poem

This is about someone being verbally abusive and realizing the reason their hate is given is actually because they are insecure and hurting themselves.
