The Mist

Fritz Crytzer 1948 (LEXINGTON, vIRGINIA)

THE MIST

The mist rolled in
The cool mist enveloped my soul
It went within
Becoming Hades numbing ghoul

Dying, shouting evolving
I lived fretfully in its intricate death
I became lost resolving
Why I lived fading in a graveyard heath

I died screaming
As life completed my furtive existence
Alive in faded dreaming
Of death’s fading ethereal resistance

To that haz’d mist
Damp mist of haz’d life’s foggy death
That abhored the fist
Swung in fright of the fearful wreath

Adorning funereal tombs
Last eulogies, horrible sensual thoughts
Scarring soul’s wounds
With moistened, heart-rott’d noughts!
