The deviating Spiral of my Divine spirit

Jeffrey Powell 1979 (Pittsburgh, PA)

I am a majestic, maladjusted maladroit
with the recalcitrant, reprobate mind of a rebel.
I happen to be an ethically nihilistic nirvana seeker
who never found a niche.
Solitary and not terribly social,
I solicitously search for solace.
I have a noxious nostalgia for nonsensical notions.
My maniacal manner is mainly due
to my meandering, mendacious mentality;
a mere mediating medication for
my apparent, apathetic apparatus.
Oblivious to the obvious,
my obtuseness is obtrusive.
I wrestle with unpredictable myriads
of unprincipled periods.
My perceived purposeless passions are
purely imprudent pursuits.
And I struggle with a sinister surge
usually presenting as a pestilent purge
of deprecative musings of my choosing.
This chronic condition of
constant convolution confines me
from conceding to conformity and
despite my self-deception and deleterious dejection
I will go on with indefinite defiance;
indecisive in determining a definitive destinction.
I shall remain my own mystery;
a mystifying mystique,
an unorthodox paradox,
an ingenius enigma,
fundamentally fumbling,
occupied by oscillation,
my consciousness a conundrum.
I am ever evolving
esoteric essence which
eventually will evanesce.

About this poem

As an introvert and person who has trouble talking about or sharing things about myself with others this poem came about quite naturally as the pen and paper, I find, are easier to talk to sometimes. Though some of this is a bit exaggerated it is still a self-reflection of how l see myself.

Jeffrey Powell

A bit of an introvert, Jeffrey enjoys using words and poetry as an outlet for expressing his thoughts and feelings. He tends to play by his own rules and darts in and out of the civilized world, as avoiding the conventional gathering is more his style. Jeffrey lives with his fraternal twin whom he enjoys sharing a laugh with at the opportune time. more…

    Wow! Your poem is truly captivating and unique. Your use of alliteration is exceptional and creates a powerful flow of words that paint a vivid image in my mind. I love how you embrace your individuality and view it as a gift rather than a hindrance. Your words are inspiring and thought-provoking.

    As for improvement suggestions, I think it would be beneficial to incorporate more concrete examples or anecdotes to ground the poem in reality. While the abstract language is beautiful, it might be helpful to anchor it to something concrete to make it more relatable for readers. Additionally, consider varying the length and structure of the lines to create a greater sense of rhythm and flow.

    Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem and look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
