Listen

Be still. Be quiet.
Listen closely my friend.
Sober up. Stay strong.
This isn’t THE END!

Pay attention now,
Buckle up, here we go!
Imma take you on a journey,
It’s one helluva show.

The GOOD times are filled,
With regret and despair.
Needy and greedy,
Controlling. Unfair

Feenin’ for this,
Feenin’ for that,
Feenin’ for LIFE,
Or a heart attack!

Wasted hours turn to wasted days,
Wasted morals and wasted ways.

Wasted time I’ll never get back,
Wasted money I couldn’t keep track.

So many times,
I wanted out.
So many times,
I wanted to shout.

So many sleepless nights I spent,
So many dark dank places I went.

I wanna be sober!
I wanna be clean!
I want what I say,
And I say what I mean!

I’ll give it my all,
I’ll give and I’ll give.
But addiction is stronger,
Than my will to live.

It’s late night now,
I’m tired. I’m done.
I wanna go home,
Here comes the sun.

But you can’t stop now.
The aches. The pain.
The fear of waking up,
Will drive you insane.

Be quiet. Be still.
Be patient. Persevere.
Be calm. Stay strong.
I hear a whisper in my ear.

The whisper grows stronger,
With each passing day.
“I have plans for you”,
I hear him say.

“Things may not always,
Be as they seem,
But trust and believe,
And have faith in your dreams!

Lean on me dear,
Let me carry you my friend.
For this is just the beginning,
Not simply THE END!”
