THE SECRET

can i tell you a secret?
i'm not supposed to tell
a secret all about you
that pertains to me as well

i wish to tell so badly
but i'm not supposed to say
i could get into trouble
and may frighten you away

this secret is most surely true
i swear upon the dead
can honesty be truly best
if never even said?

secret truths are naught
but knowledge hidden from our sight
what harm could come from knowing
through the darkest storms of night?

should you learn not this secret
for i've only one to save
it shall burn eternal
and forever in my grave

i beg you now please hear this
and i pray all works out fine
i love you and you're beautiful
and i hope that you'll be mine
