Reflection

The shadow, in front of me,
As I am turning my back on the sun.
I want to run away,
I want to fly away to get rid of it;
But this is also the part of me.
Soaring high in the sky,
I think is there any way?
There are not but two:
Kill the sun or die myself,
To make the shadow disappear.
But I am prepared for neither;
The only choice I am left with
Is to wait...
And soon...
I start to reflect...
The shadow, behind my back,
As I am facing the Sun.

About this poem

This is the poem that I wrote on one beautiful evening, looking at the sunset, when it hit me hard that just like the shadow is a part of me and I can't run away from it, in the same way, my past, my darker side, sadness; everything that I don't want, is also a part of me. I must not be afraid of it or try to run away from it, rather I should face it and go down to its roots and embrace it as it is. You can neither kill the sun, meaning the source of your sadness, nor you can kill yourself. You just have to wait and reflect. The shadow, that is in front of you when you have turned your back on the sun will get behind you if you show the courage to face the sun. Just have courage and be thoughtful, be kind and considerate towards yourself as well as others.
