Heart's Seasons

Spear of diamond sunlight thrust
In autumn – a rare pure treasure,
Tiny specks, swirling dancing dust
Moments watched in dreaming pleasure

Prism of promise shimmering rays
Rainbow colours vivid reflect
Our full, calm lovely burnished days
Before dark winter raging crept

Harsh callous cold thief of desire
Black cloak swept across sure delight
Hurled tears hiss on blazing fire
Shivering chaos cuts constant night

And springlooking out for fresh sun
To warm again a weary mind
Sparkle on plans only begun
Heart’s high-held hopes - dreams as designed

East winds piercing needles of frost
Destroying young shoots of fresh days
Harvests not reaped already lost
Savaged fragments in mind’s eye maze

Summer rise full with perfumed flowers
Let precious senses flow once more
Shine light across peaceful hours
Chase lost seasons and life restore

Pamela Blanchfield

Born in Liverpool the artist and writer has been involved with many subjects in both creative fields. Her lifelong passions are cats and nature. Her earliest memories involve drawing, being outside and cats, and both were features of early life in a Victorian house with a large garden and her own wood. Her recently-published collection of poems 'Show Me The Mountain Bright Meadows Below', 100 poems with 70 illustrations, is intriguing, sometimes challenging, sad, beautiful, evocative and thought-provoking. Metaphysical, mystical, magical - the poems speak of love, lust, dreams, desire, loss, people, places, and our shadows both in reality and what the poet perceives as glimpses through the veils to beyond, or the unknown. She writes of struggles one can face when life presents us with mountains we know we must scale, and believes that links and signs of love come to us, giving strength, direction and helping guide our way. Her hope is that others will find they can relate, perhaps also gain encouragement in difficult times or just simply enjoy reading the verses. more…
