A Normal working day in Lagos

A Normal working day in Lagos

Waking up very early in the morning
To face the incessant trouble in Lagos
To the noise and chatter in my hood
Seeing different people racing against time to prep

Getting ready for work
Leaving your comfort zone
Getting on the street of Lagos
Queuing at the bus transit
Waiting for early morning bus to hop on
A bus sighted from afar
A lot of passengers rushing to hop on first
A normal transportation means turned to a struggle for the fittest
As the saying goes “na JJC dey wait for bus old taker go run catch am nii”

Finally catching the bus
You have to pray against the spirit of traffic
Because Lagos traffic is another disaster every Lagos residents pray against

On the road you pray against the unfortunate ones who are just vexed for no reason
These set of people just wake up to get angry at other people, there is a cure for them though  just match their energy with “Lagosian madness”
It solves a lot of problems on the street of Lagos

Finally getting to work,
You as a Lagos worker, working 9-5pm but spending more than 12hrs on the road for no reason but traffic
Closing at the regular time for workers 5pm getting back to the traffic you left in the morning
A total waste of time and energy

A summary of what Lagos residents pass through on a normal working day
And people praise Lagos for being a good state
Is Lagos really a good state? Or a hell on earth
Well I guess we will never know
Or we know, we aren’t just ready to admit it
