Blood Moon Bay

Don't cry over our love
Please, not anymore.
The last time I saw your sweet, black tears, my soul fell forlorn.

I cannot bear to see her body stir.
Like poison it succumbs
Although I wished for placid rest,
I know Ive made mascara run.

It Constricts and chokes like vicious vines,
my loathsome, rampant past.
I cherish her hopes, and golden skin,
whilst mine is iron cast.

Her room painted by bloody brush.
Lit by candle and chandelier
And from her headboard perched so high
I pictured rebirth in here.

A million dreams have passed on by
here at blood moon bay.
It overwhelms my breaking heart
that only you chose to stay.

A minor swell of silver strings
I cannot bear to hear them chime
A major swell of crushing winds
blows apart our lives.

Somewhere, A mother shepherds her infant birds.

She fills their mouths
until they are strong and safe to fly
Fit to taste life’s fleeting fruits
but once away, alone she’ll die.

Cradled onto quiet oak limbs
A breath of soot into her lungs
A life and love and journeys end,
has been found by a mourning dove

It haunts me in my waking dream
I cannot bear to hear at all
this old hymn of roses wilting
and the ways the petals fall

I am both the torturer
and the sinner who is flayed
So watch my heart, sink and drown
here at blood moon bay.
