Original

My new girl friend worked at a hospital
As a nurse's aide,
She asked me to meet  someone she really liked
And I said " yes" !

An older gent with white hair,
Very gracious and well spoken,
He made you feel like a friend
This was no run of the mill geezer !

My girl friend said to the old gent
Show Doug some of your art
He was hesitated at first
But showed me his pencil art !

He showed me pencil sketches of various things
Like nature, animals and buildings,
They  were  good, very good,
And he smiled and said, " thankyou" !

But Bette said, show Doug  your very best one,
He reached down at the boom drawer
And showed me a pencil drawing of Jesus,
Perfect details with amazing eyes !

Listen friend, this gentleman
Was one cut above,
All his pencil art was first class
He sketched from memory, not from copies !

Imagine for a moment
A beautiful drawing of Jesus
He died shortly of cancer
But now saw the original !
