Celestial Symphony

I begin to hear the music in my head
As the sky darkens and sharp pins of light appear.
The orchestra is just warming up.
One after another the bright players
Walk onto the darkened stage.
Soon, a symphony of a thousand transforms
Itself into millions and billions.
No earthly conductor could control
Such an ensemble.
Soon, the melody begins: a gentle waltz.
The players dance slowly, savoring each note.
I watch in amazement as the vast orchestra
Arches over me until the house lights come up.
At the finale, one lone player remains, burning bright,
Not yet ready to bring the nightly performance to an end.
