Morals To Keep

Do you mind if I ask your opinion?

'About what?'

Your personal feelings about these times,
We all today live?

'No, I don't mind at all.
Ask me anything.
I have nothing to hide.'

Great.
You are the first one willing to participate.
Here goes.
Your morals to keep them,
Versus greed to feed...
In an entitled society.
Where it is taught to worship,
Money to have is everything.
That means more to you,
Than living as a human being.

'I..uh...hmmm.
Give me a 'sec'.
I didn't expect that question.'

Sure.
And which response do you believe,
Your family, relatives and close friends...
Or the majority of the people,
Would quickly give up to leave behind...
Impressions to make.
And pretensions made to deceive,
To abandon and become...
A better human being to achieve.

'Hmmm...
I would think that depends.'

Oh?
And on what?

'The health of the economy.
Their ability to get a loan.
With a 'hypothetical' low credit score.
And those impressions made,
To keep up with their pretensions kept.
Doing it as best as they can to protect.'

Sounds good.
Now...
What about you?
If you were in a position,
To become a better human being.
With a doing to keep,
Your morals valued.
And standard of life kept to stay as is.

'Me?
I would immediately plead the 5th.
As my executive priviledge.'

But, I thought you said,
You had nothing to hide.
About your personal feelings.

'I don't.
Although,
Incriminating myself...
For something,
You may assume I have done...
To even allege or implicate my guilt.
Before I am advised by my lawyer?
From me there is nothing else,
I am going to say.'

I am only here to take a random survey.

'Sure.
Sure you are.
Random your survey somewhere else.
Do I look that stupid to you?
Do you think I would admit,
The things I have done...
To lie and get a loan?
How stupid do you think I am?'

Huh?
What?

'Forget it.
People like you,
Are always around...
Trying to make people like me,
To feel guilty trying my best not to let...
Others now,
What it takes for me...
To keep up with appearances.'

I...
Your suspicions are unwarranted.'

'Your suspicions are unwarranted.
Shut up and keep stepping.
Leave me alone.
I ain't the fool you take me to be.'

Wow.
I don't believe this.

'Well now you do.
You think I've been made crazed,
Like everyone else these days?
Random survey my....
Move on!'
