To Better One's Best

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Less easier it gets.
What becomes for some expected.
To better one's best.
And this to prove can be done to do.
Without revisiting the familiar.
Done to introduce,
A different direction that is new.

Self inflicting becomes the challenge.
No peace.
No sleep.
No rest to get or even eat.

Self inflicting is the challenge.
All the time.
Not to leave behind,
A repetition quick to redefined.

Too close some folks will notice,
What's been done before.
With microscopes they'll come to notice.
To then ignore and be bored.
By a doing that has nothing more to offer.

Self inflicting is the challenge.
To adventure and explore,
A pursuing of a task no one has had.

So self inflicting is the challenge.
To reveal something new.
So self inflicting is the challenge.
With a doing to prove,
One's better of a best can done.

Yet...
Less easier it gets,
To do and to prove.
Yet...
Less easier it gets.
To do.
Yes...
Less easier it gets,
To do and to prove.
For someone who is challenged this to do.
