Self

Mmeli Khumalo 2004 (Boksburg)

“To fall in love with yourself
is the first secret to happiness.”
You may not understand now,
but trust me you will.
You will soon understand that through self-love
 lies true and divine healing.
You will soon be able to see that true happiness comes from within.

When other people look at you,
they see a smart, confident, creative, beautiful soul.
Why is when you look at yourself,
all you see is an inept, pessimistic, imbecile.
Why do you dislike yourself so much?
Who is to blame for such an immense amount of self-loathing?

Maybe your mother’s emotional negligence,
or maybe your father’s absenteeism from your life is to blame.
You don’t know, and maybe you’ll never know, but there is one thing you should know, sometimes not knowing can be the best thing.
After all, “life is not about knowing, having to change,
taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.”
