Ode to Homeless

Where do the homeless go when there's no home to
go to?
Where do they eat?  Where do they sleep?
Where do they rest their weary feet?

Once the world was at their bidding. Now Fate scoffs.  It was only kidding.

They live in tents below a highway overpass.
They are the unseen, unheard underclass.
Look about you. They're all around you.
Just open your eyes and you'll see them.

Be grateful, my friends.  But for the grace of God, you
could be them.

About this poem

Homelessness is such a big problem today. I see it every day. It's a shameful commentary on our so-called advanced society.
