Despair

Despair

Her eyes sparkle in the sun.
Like the warmth of gold honey.
Her cheeks are rose-red.
Blissful and kind.
Gleaming a radiant smile.
In a world of lies.
Underneath.
Hidden away.
A world of despair.
She doesn’t say.
Day by day she conquers away.
Nourishing herself of lies,
Just to pull through the day.
Living with regrets,
She reprehends herself
With the life of misuse,
Rebuked and mismanaged.
Drawing back in fear,
With the verge of a hand.
Condemned with lacerating words.
Shielding everyone out.
Knowing consequences she’ll entail,
If she retreats.
She yearns for herself.
Delicately fragile.
Pursuing herself.
Mending patches of life.
Drowning in oppression,
but swimming in quicksand
to get out.
Imperceptibly she heals.
