Blade

Each time I touch the blade a crushing pain overwhelms me
"Little girl, you are worthless"
Each line represents a different time, of which those words were conveyed to me.

"I am worthless"

Wondering if he would be proud, seeing me like this
I'm just continuing what he started
The burning sensation,
pain like the blows he inflicted on me, physically and mentally

The memories returning, creeping out of the darkness
An adult, chained by the nightmares of her childhood

Where words never mattered

"No" fell on deaf ears

"Please, don't"

"You're hurting me"

A sobbing little girl, left to pick up the pieces

Disobedient, purposeful menace
Words still ringing in my ears
You were supposed to protect me…
But often, you were the one I needed protection from

But it's fine
Look, I turned out okay
Character development is what he'd say

With each scar I add to my body
And each drop of blood
A calmness washes over me

Instant pain

Instant tears

Instant relief
