BAD MOM's

                        BAD MOMs

Bad moms are what you all call us, With no days off.
We are out here deep; we are a gang of roses called trauma and mistrust.
Listen, honey, I know how you feel,
but I'm going to keep it real about your references to us.

A million judgments projected onto the world's most disrespected,
Femicide is an indication that we are unprotected.
Nonetheless, we are expected not to feel the world's burdens.
We are constantly getting our essences slain by the world.
Some of us were just little girls.

Do you know the testicular fortitude it takes to be a mom?
I know that comparison sounds crazy but tell me I'm wrong?
Having to be strong all the time, always on the run?
Dealing with ungratefulness in your children?
Baby, let me tell you something.

Mommy, ma! Ma! Constantly in your ear,
I have been part of the no sleep gang since my teenage years,
with long days, long nights with little ones on my rear,
The Baby's father has no care for the hurt, pain,
blood, sweat, and tears. By the grace of God,
you keep food on the table; do the most to provide it each year.
You don't work; you don't eat.
Can you see why the roles progressively change each year?

Optimism combined with fear
hanging off sweet whispers in your ear,
let's not disregard him.
Him that needs your nurturing motherly gifts.
To meet the wants of what his mother never gifted him.
You're looking for directions and worldly protections,
with all these expectations from a man raised by a mother,
I'm sure, with her own stories and single mother confessions.

Many of you believe you know how this goes-
not acknowledging the boundaries, you must push to protect what's yours—
Robbing Peter to pay Paul, pay that mortgage before the house gets foreclosed
Morally devaluing yourself, getting preyed on by the world to stay afloat.
Yea, these are my confessions as a single mother,
A BAD MOM” s life you will never know

Thank you for taking the time to read my work. As an emerging writer, I am honored and optimistic to share my work with you. I am grateful for all feedback. I experienced a lot of traumas in my life in the last two and a half years and I kept journals to keep track of what was happening to me. Those journals became a collection of poetry became which lead to a journey of healing. I am interested in the betterment of the human experience, full of self-reflection, devotion, hurt, and hope; I confront my trauma in my writings in hopes that it helps someone else heal and or realize that they are not alone. more…
