Proud Dingbat

Proud Dingbat
(More than any other bat)
__________________________

I once had a Dingbat proud and tall,
and when we went out my name it would call,
standing there proud in the midst of the mall,
it weren't just a dingbat but really my pal.

Dingbats are tall but often so small,
curved but straight it depends on their fate,
my Dingbat did sing all of the while,
not any old bat and so full of style.

Dingbats walumpth all over the aisle,
when seen together they do it with guile,
hiding round pillars or maybe a hedge,
they dig up the garden and eat all your veg'.

Now if you are careful and feed them on spice,
they fall on your belly and tickle so nice,
Dingbats are clever in a slapstick way,
so keep them so treasured; and your Dingbat will stay.

Feed them on porridge at midnight sharp,
they don't need a spoon and it's best in the dark,
glumpfing flat footed they'll eat the whole bowl,
and fall on their backs almost full to the soul.

On fridays buy them a large carrot pie,
and watch how they dance to the clouds in the sky,
stomping around in a long Dingbat line,
but my Dingbat's at home; and with me, aye!

Now sing to the dawn of your Dingbat's day,
when it stomps around or gets lost in the hay,
for your Dingbat is here and you know it so true,
In a world without Dingbats there's nothing to do.
