Said Done

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

When all has been said.
With a doing it done.
Very few are left,
To accuse or blame anyone.
For the decisions and choices they made.

And living being blessed,
To grow from one stage to another.
Experiencing aging,
From a bud to bloom...
Until time begins to wither,
A blooming to witness it beginning to fade.
There is a reminiscing,
That remains to stay remembered.

Did the life blessed to receive and get.
Achieve the best of an effort endeavored?
To leave pleased and satisfied,
An attempt to make a difference...
In someone else's life?

Was what had been said done to do?
Attempted and tried?
Without excuses and alibis?

And if it was,
With all the opportunity given to prove...
What could be done to welcome it.
Then there is no need to convince ourselves.
Or others of it for attention to get approval.
Since that to do could never pay,
For a peace if mind one receives.
Knowing,
A job that has been done well...
Is unnecessary to tell about it if shown!
To have made this known.

When all has been said.
With a doing it done.
Very few are left,
To accuse or blame anyone.
For the decisions and choices they made.
Done to expect,
Applause and a standing ovation.
Or awarded for being,
The best of who they were meant to be!
