Be careful of the life you lead
Jason Marriner 1980 (Pensacola)
I let her drive away from me
I thought she wanted to be free
What I didn't see, were the tears in her eyes
What I didn't know, it was her last goodbye
I'd never see her again
I'd no longer be her man
Somehow I still can't believe
The way I let her leave
(Oh what a tangled web we weave)
Be careful of the life you lead
(Oh what a tangled web we weave)
Everywhere I run, it's her face I see
(Can't escape her memory)
Friends say to let her go
(But they just don't know)
How much she's on my mind
(Can't leave the past behind)
There's no turning back now
(Gotta get through life somehow)
All these years have passed (How did our love not last)
All these years gone by (I feel so dead inside)
I look back and still I wonder why
(I couldn't keep her by my side)
All these years later, I still regret
(All the things I can't forget)
All these years later, I'm still holding on
(To a love that's gone)
All these years later, one things for sure
(I know I still love her)
But the damage has been done
(I still miss my wife and son)
Be careful of the life you lead
(Oh what a tangled web we weave)
All these years later, I still regret
(All the things I can't forget)
About this poem
Sometimes I find inspiration in music. This one came to me while listening to Skid Row - 18 and Life I basically rewrote the song but kept the tempo
