Loyal To Stay Faithful

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Few approval seekers seek approval,
To achieve and get their success.
Since it seems for them,
It is criticism they take that motivates...
An igniting of incentive.
An incentive fired up,
On desire as a fuel unseen.
Yet one depends upon and uses.
Kept inside that keeps that driving force alive.

And that driving force kept alive inside?
Has little to do...
Or anything at all.
With an approval from the outside.
Either to get or denied an acceptance of it.
Success to accomplish and it achieved?
Is not announced as to how,
The building begins or what is being done.
It comes to the one,
Remaining faithful and loyal to what they do.
To prove,
First to themselves.
Long before,
A doing of it has been noticed!

'What is it that you attribute,
To your achieving of success?'

'Success?
I have yet to be pleased to believe,
What you call success...
Leaves me satisfied to achieve,
That which I have not felt to feel.
Tell me...
How should I feel,
To know what I have done...
Has been accomplished and achieved?
Tell me...
Would a loyalty and faith,
In my beliefs kept to keep change?'

'Well...
That depends,
On what you perceive success to obtain is!'

'Hey.
As I recall,
It was you who brought 'success' up.
Recognizing something I had achieved.
What is it?'

'Being noticed for something you have done.'

'Oh.
So...
The more I notice,
Myself doing something to get it done.
The more I will feel successful about it?'

'Uh...'

'Don't worry about it.
There are times when I find myself,
Also without words to say.'

'Really?
In what day and year did that happen?'

'That was back in...
What?
Huh?'
