Shadows of Love

D.S. Elliott 1950 (Sydney)

Shadows play upon my mind
While I sit and wait
Memories touch my soul

Passion
Seduction
Anticipation found

Your gentle face
Your scent
Your skin

Kisses with such longing
Touches tantalising

A tenderness you shared with me
Like I had never known
Love pure and gentle
It felt like coming home

Anticipation of what was to come
Could I make the choice?

You moved your body close to mine
I let down the gate
Passion not yet found till now
I could no longer wait

Two souls naked intertwined
Intimacy shared
Beautiful and rare
Passions fuelled by desire
Free from care

You stroked my face with loving
Your caresses were divine
I couldn't  help but let you take me
Take me each and every time

Anticipation finally found
Calm
Warm
Content

Now you and I are hurting
For we had to say goodbye

None but a fool takes changes
And gives them all away if only for a day
Fear that love won't stay

So while I sit and wait
I think of you each day
